Dolly Wins Her First Race And Trophy

Hawks Jewel (Dolly) has won her first ever race.
She ran in the A8 grade over 450 meters at Poole last Friday.

Running from trap two she did not get out the box very well.
There was some bumping on the outside of the first bend which resulted with the dog in trap five being knocked over.

Dolly was a little behind the others and managed to avoid trouble by finding a gap at the rails.
Coming of the second bend she found herself a few lengths behind the leader (trap three) and the race was on.
She slowly started to make some ground up and coming of the forth bend was only just behind the leading dog.
She managed to pass him at the run in to win by two and a quarter lengths in the time of 27.53 seconds (+10 going).

The race was not without incident with Marco Folly in trap five coming of with a broken leg after being knocked over at the first bend.
Our thoughts are with the pup and her owners.

The meeting was a PGTOA Trophy meeting so Dolly won the race and a trophy as well.
She is only five weeks out of season so should have plenty to build on.

It was a great feeling to see her win and we could not be more proud of our girl.
Hopefully this is the first of many.
Only time can tell!

Also Cool Flush continues to make good progress on the track for his owners.

Dolly Makes Her Race Debut But A Bit Of A Wait For her Next One!

Hawks Jewel ran her first race last friday.
She ran into fifth place in an A7 graded race at Poole over 450 meters.

Running from trap three she did not get out well and met trouble at the first bend.
The April 08 pup showed a lot of determination as she was continually leant on by another dog for most of the race.
She was last for most of the race but managed to run into fifth place at the line.
Dolly ran on strong passing the other dogs after the line to be first at the pick up.

We are very pleased as this was her ever first race and she will learn a lot from this.
She showed plenty of guts and stayed on really well, so this may be a sign of a possible good staying future.
Only time will tell!

We will have to wait a while for Dolly's next race as she came into season over the weekend so will have a rest from running.

It was a great feeling to see one of Bessie's (Matt And Me) pups run and Dolly seems to have inherited the same determination her mother had on the track.
We look forward to her race development on the track in the future.

The Stats Are Back

It's a welcome return to the Booming Greyhounds stats.

Ruby (Scarlet Ribbons) ran her last race over a year ago, and it's been a matter of waiting for any of Bessie's (Matt And Me) pups to make their track debut.

Cool Flush is the first of her pups to run and though he is not owned by us we are very pleased for his owners.

With more of Bessie's pups to make their racing debuts in the near future it will be interesting to see how they will progress.

All dogs in RED are racers that are owned but not bred by us.
All dogs in GREEN are racers that have been bred by us but not owned by us.
All dogs in BLUE are dogs bred and owned by us.

Cool Flush Is Bessie's First Winner

Cool Flush (Westmead Hawk x Matt And Me) became Bessie's first winner last Saturday.
The April 08 pup won the 500 meters A8 graded race at Nottingham at only his second attempt.

Running from a more favourable trap four, he did trap better than in his previous race.
He was led at the first bend but managed to pick up the leading dog at the line to win by 3/4 of a length in the time of 31.83 seconds (+20 going ).

He seems to run on strong to the end which looks to be the typical style of Westmead Hawk's offspring.

Congratulations to Carl and all his connections.

The future is certainly looking good for the 17 month black dog.

Hello Dolly!

A warm welcome to Dolly (Westmead Hawk x Matt And Me) our newest Booming Greyhound.

She was kindly donated to us by her original owner Kieron Lennon from Waterford, Ireland.
After reading about the loss of Bailey and then the tragic death of Jessica he contacted us to offer Dolly who he had brought back in the summer of 2008.

We are overwhelmed by the generosity shown by Kieron as he has lost not only money, but also a lovely pup.
We have reimbursed some of the cost of the rearing and have promised to repay the rest over time. Kieron has never asked for anything except that Dolly was given a good home.

Thank you Kieron we appreciate everything you have done.

Dolly was picked up from Waterford by Kevin Sedgwick and stayed at the training establishment of Oxford trainer Mike Peterson.
We would also like to thank Kevin and Mike for the delivery and excellent care she was given over those few days.

She has now settled in well at her new home with Poole trainer Dave Lewis.
Dave trained Ruby (Scarlet Ribbons) and will also train Dolly who will hopefully start racing in the near future.

Dolly has been given the racing name Hawks Jewel and should start trialing at Poole soon.

There will be regular news and updates on Dolly and all our Booming Greyhounds .

Bessie's Cool Pup Debut

The first of Bessie's pups has hit the race tracks.

Cool Flush (Westmead Hawk x Matt And Me) made his racing debut at Nottingham last Saturday.

The April 08 black dog ran from trap five. After stumbling from the box he finally finished sixth.
He is sure to improve over time as like most pups is still learning the ropes. And will most likely be alloted a better trap as he is not a seeded wide runner.

We wish Carl and all his fellow owners the best of luck for the future.
